Description
John Wiley Boiler Shell Weld Repair: Sizewell 'A' Nuclear Power Station by Pep
This work explores the technical developments and engineering achievements from the programme of repairs successfully completed by BNFL Magnox Generation to three shells of reactor R2 at Sizewell "A" Nuclear Power Station. The papers presented in this volume review how the original defects occurred and how this understanding led to the specification of the materials and welding development. The challenge of finding the appropriate fracture toughness; and the selection of subsequent heat treatments, which promotes good creep ductility and minimises the risk of reoccurrence of cracking are also addressed. Topics covered here include: risk management; weld procedures qualifications and training; site implementation; detection and diagnosis; materials challenges; project management. This work will be of interest to all engineers, technicians, project managers, and consultants, involved in the engineering, repair, and maintenance of all pressure vessels in the nuclear and other power industries
